Executive Director

Jim Purviance is the Executive Director of the Board of Parole. He oversees the daily operations of the agency, and is the direct liaison with members of the Board.

Purviance, a native of Barren Plains, Tennessee, is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and Volunteer State Community College. He began his state government career in 2004 at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation where he was assigned to the Information Systems Division – Crime Statistics Unit.  Purviance joined the Board of Parole in 2011 as the Director of Research, Policy and Planning. He was later promoted to the position of Parole Administrator over the Management Resources Divisions and in 2018, was promoted to his current post as Executive Director.
