As the Director of the Prevention Coalition of Lauderdale County, I collaborate with community members and partners to prevent drug addiction within the county. We partner with the District Attorney’s office to host drug take back events in both April and October. For some events, we collect seven to eight pounds of prescription drugs. We also give out lock boxes. As a coalition, we try to take an upstream approach in addressing drug addiction in the community by education young people on the harmful effects of drugs. I believe by collaborating with community partners and members in Lauderdale County, we can tackle drug addiction through prevention.
