Temporary Closures Planned for I-40/I-240 Interchange Project

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will have temporary closures on sections of the interstate system this weekend as crews continue to work on the new east and westbound flyover ramps. This work is part of the I-40/I-240 interchange improvement project. The closures are necessary as crews install the last six beams over existing roadways.

Saturday, March 21 at 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m.
The following will be CLOSED for crews to safely install steel bridge beams:

  • I-40 westbound ramp to Little Rock

Saturday, March 21 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
The following will be CLOSED for crews to install portable barrier rail for shoulder closures:

  • Left lane of I-40 westbound north of Summer Avenue (Exit 12 will remain open)
  • Right lane of I-40 westbound at Covington Pike (Exit 10 will remain open)

The work is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled. Truck traffic should use SR 385 as an alternate route. Detour maps and information will be provided on the project web site. http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/i40-240memphis/
