WARTBURG – The Department of Correction is investigating an apparent homicide at the Morgan County Correctional Complex in Wartburg following an altercation between two inmates. As a result of the altercation, 58-year-old inmate Edward Harris was pronounced dead at a local hospital around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Harris was serving a life sentence for a 1986 homicide in Sevier County.
As with all in-custody deaths, other than natural causes, the Department will ask the TBI to assist in the investigation.
