MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation will have temporary closures on sections of the interstate system this weekend as crews continue to work on the new east and westbound flyover ramps. This work is part of the I-40/I-240 interchange improvement project. The closures are necessary as crews continue installing beams over existing roadways.

Saturday, February 28, 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, March 1, 6:00 p.m.

The following will be CLOSED for crews to safely install steel bridge beams:

  • I-40 westbound ramp to Little Rock

Saturday, February 28, 2:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m:

  • I-40 westbound: The two outside lanes between Exit 18 (US 64) and Exit 16 (Germantown Road) will be closed to install horizontal truss and a new message board. Two lanes will remain open except during the time of a rolling road block to hang and bolt the truss in place.
  • I-40 eastbound: The inside lane and shoulder will be briefly closed to connect the truss to column.

The work is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled. Detour maps for the current weekend and information will be provided on the project web site. http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/i40-240memphis/
