Employee Arrested For Misappropriation Of Funds

NASHVILLE -  A former Tennessee Department of Correction employee has been indicted by the Davidson County Grand Jury on several charges including official misconduct and theft over $60,000.  Mary M. Williams, a former records clerk at Tennessee Prison for Women, is accused of siphoning money from offenders’ accounts over the course of three-years.

After an internal investigation by the TDOC Office of Investigation and Compliance, Ms. Williams was terminated and the case was turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.  Today, she was arrested and booked into the Davidson County Jail.

The Tennessee Department of Correction thanks the TBI, the Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury  and the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this matter.
