Commission to Set 2014-15 Waterfowl and Sandhill Crane Hunting Seasons at August Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission will set the 2014-15 waterfowl and sandhill crane seasons at its Aug. 28-29 meeting to be held in Jackson.

The public will have the opportunity at the August commission meeting to express its opinion on the possible waterfowl season dates, including what day the season should open as well as the second sandhill crane season in East Tennessee. The waterfowl and sandhill crane seasons opened on Thanksgiving Day last year. The statewide waterfowl season ran until Jan. 26. Last year’s Reelfoot Duck Zone seasons were Nov. 16-17 and Nov. 30-Jan. 26. The inaugural sandhill crane season ran through New Year’s Day.

The site of the August meeting in Jackson will be the West Tennessee Research and Education Center. The complete agenda will be announced prior to the meeting. The committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 (Thursday) while the formal meeting starts at 9 .m. on Aug. 29 (Friday). The TFWC serves as the governing body of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
