Jobs, Education and Other Valuable Resources at Veterans Outreach Event and Job Fair in Houston County

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) is partnering with more than 40 federal, state, local public and private partners to ensure Veterans, dependents and surviving family members in Houston, Humphreys and Stewart Counties get access to employment opportunities, educational resources, mental health and substance abuse services, business resources and claims assistance. 

Representatives from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as well as Bethel University, Tennessee College of Applied Technology, Daymar Institute, North Central Institute, and New Horizons Computer Learning Centers will participate in the Veterans Outreach Event and Job Fair on Friday, July 18 from 10am to 2pm at Erin City Hall at 15 Hill Street in Erin.  Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will participate to offer Commercial Driving Certification for qualified Veterans as well as recruit Veterans for open positions. Tennessee Department of Correction, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, Tennessee Department of Human Resources and Tennessee Department of Military will also recruit Veterans.  

Partners also include Veteran supporters Senator Mark Green (R-Clarksville), Senator Jim Summerville (R-Dickson), Representative John C. Tidwell (D-New Johnsonville) and Representative Tim Wirgau (R-Buchanan).

Veterans will need to present a copy of their DD-214 and any other service related documents to assist with filing claims for federal benefits.
