TDOC Launches Citizens’ Correctional Academy

NASHVILLE – In an effort to further enhance its relationship with the public, the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is currently accepting applications for the inaugural 2014 Citizens’ Correctional Academy.  The Citizens’ Correctional Academy is a four week/five session program designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency.  Classes will be held every Tuesday evening during the month of June at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, Tennessee.

“The Citizens’ Correctional Academy will give the public an opportunity to understand the complexities of our agency as well as the work of more than 6,000 men and women who keep our communities safe,” Commissioner Derrick D. Schofield said.

Applications for the Citizens’ Correctional Academy can be accessed on our website at www.tn.gov/correction/:

  • Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
  • Classes begin on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
  • Graduation will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
