Joshua Baber Captured

Mountain City – An inmate who walked away from a work detail in Mountain City on the morning of March 6, 2014, is now back in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction.   Joshua Michael Baber, 24, was apprehended March 7, 2014 in Johnson City.  Baber walked away from a minimum-custody work detail at the prison Thursday afternoon.

TDOC agents along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Johnson County Sheriff’s Department combined efforts and resources to search for and subsequently capture Joshua Baber.

Baber had seven years remaining on his sentence for convictions in Blount and Sevier Counties for burglary, kidnapping and theft of property.

Baber has been transported back to Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City and could face up to five additional years for the escape.  Details of his escape are still under investigation at this time.
