Mountain City – The Department of Correction is committed to enhancing public safety in Tennessee.  One way it aims to do that is by offering career-planning assistance to offenders under TDOC supervision.

The Department of Correction Employment Specialist will team up with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce to bring its mobile Career Coach to Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City on March 5, 2014.  “Our main responsibility is to assist with reintegrating offenders back into the workforce,” says Stephen Darrow, an employment specialist with TDOC.

The Career Coach provides assistance to offenders that are within 90 days of expiring their sentences and need help with career planning.  The bus is equipped with a dozen computers, internet access and help from “career coaches” who assist individuals searching for employment and creating proper resumes.
