SR-153 Ramp in Hamilton County Reopens Following Emergency Repair

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reopened the State Route 153 ramp at Access Rd./Lake Resort Dr. to traffic at 3:00 p.m. EST today. 

The ramp had been partially closed since January 6 because of pavement failure and totally closed since January 27 after an emergency repair contract for $455,346.25 was awarded to Highways, Inc. 

During the ramp closure, the contractor excavated and rebuilt the entire slope and roadway and addressed drainage issues.  Once the work was completed, TDOT Operations crews paved the newly repaired portion of the ramp and installed pavement markings and guardrail.  Later this spring after the weather warms up and our crews are able to obtain hot mix asphalt, the entire ramp will be repaved.
