Temporary Lane Closure on Summer Avenue under I-240 in Shelby County

Tuesday, February 04, 2014 | 03:31am

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Major traffic changes are coming for Summer Avenue in Memphis as construction on the I-40/240 Interchange Project continues. Beginning Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 6:30 a.m., the right auxiliary lane of eastbound Summer Avenue under the Interstate 240 bridge will close for approximately three months.

The closure is necessary as contract crews begin work to widen the I-240 bridge and improve the Summer Avenue interchange. The bridge widening will require additional temporary lane closures on Summer Avenue over the next six to nine months.

Saturday’s work to implement the lane closure on Summer Avenue is weather dependent.  Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled.
