Wolf Creek Bridge Reopens; Historic bridge in Cocke County had been closed since April 2012

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Sunday, February 2nd, the Wolf Creek Bridge on State Route 9 in Cocke County reopened to traffic for the first time in nearly two years.

This bridge, which was classified as structurally deficient, had been dismantled down to the concrete arches and then rebuilt.  The bridge has been widened from 24 feet to 30 feet to accommodate wider travel lanes and 2 foot shoulders.

The Wolf Creek Bridge, which was originally completed in 1928, is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
