NASHVILLE – Today the Office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) honored the Tennessee Prison for Women and Captain Valerie Hampton as a Patriotic Employer with the Department of Defense.  Corrections Officer Sergeant Edmond Heischberg, who is also a member of the Army National Guard, nominated Captain Hampton for her “understanding and support” of his scheduling needs as he is serving both our country and the TDOC.  Sgt. Heischberg is currently deployed and could not attend the presentation.

The Department of Correction is committed to partnering with our veterans and our active military to ensure they have access to employment opportunities and our full support once hired.

Command Sergeant Major (retired) Wayne Curry U.S. Army presented the award.  Others in attendance include Hampton’s son, Chief Joseph Murray U.S. Navy, Captain Valerie Hampton, TPW Warden Vicki Freeman and Deputy Warden Pat Ryan.
