Human to Assist with Existing Industry Expansions and New Business Recruitment

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced today that Gary Human has been named East Tennessee regional director.  Human will be responsible for leading the state’s economic development efforts in the area that serves Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union counties.

“Gary will be an outstanding fit in his new role as regional director, and I believe he will continue to build upon the positive economic development momentum that flows through the East Tennessee region,” Commissioner Bill Hagerty said. “The experience he has gained from working with our department for the past ten years has helped him form meaningful relationships throughout East Tennessee, and I look forward to seeing the impact he’ll make as regional director.”

Human will serve as the primary point of contact for existing industry expansions and will help attract new businesses, align workforce development strategies and support other regional economic and rural development initiatives.

Prior to his appointment as regional director, Human served as a business development consultant in East Tennessee covering eight counties including two separate industrial development boards in Oak Ridge and the Tellico Resource Development Agency.

Before joining TNECD, Human was employed with the East Tennessee Human Resources Agency (ETHRA), the Roane Alliance and Roane County Industrial Development Board.
