NASHVILLE—The 60th Annual Governor’s Conference on Economic and Community Development will be held October 3 – 4 at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn. The conference will focus on recognizing and acknowledging Tennessee’s past accomplishments while looking forward to our future. Former Governors Lamar Alexander and Winfield Dunn will be in attendance at the Governor’s Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 4.

“Tennessee is experiencing an unprecedented amount of momentum when it comes to job creation, as our reputation for providing the best location for business growth and expansion continues to build globally” ECD Commissioner Bill Hagerty said. “The Governor’s Conference gives economic development professionals from around the state a chance to learn from a variety of experts and strengthen their skillset, while hopefully leaving with a renewed sense of purpose for reinvesting in Tennessee’s bright future.”
The two-day conference includes multiple educational sessions with the latest on economic development topics including automotive manufacturing, entrepreneurship, exporting, incentives, marketing, retail, foreign direct investment, workforce development, certified sites and more. Back by popular demand, the conference will open with a plenary session on Thursday featuring some of the nation’s leading site selectors on what they are looking for in potential locations and what it takes to land a project.

Joe Scarlett, former CEO and chairman of Tractor Supply Company, will keynote the Commissioner’s Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Scarlett began his career at Tractor Supply Company in 1979 where he held leadership roles, including CEO and chairman, until his retirement in 2007.
