Nashville, Tennessee --- Board of Parole Chairman Richard Montgomery has been appointed to serve on the Tennessee Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision. Gov. Bill Haslam announced the appointment last week.

“I am excited to serve on this panel,” Montgomery said. “It offers state officials and other interested parties an opportunity to collaborate on matters governed by the national Interstate Compact, in order to promote safe communities in Tennessee.”

The Tennessee Council for Adult Offender Supervision exercises oversight and advocacy concerning the state’s participation in national Interstate Compact Commission activities. It is comprised of eight members who represent the legislature, the judiciary, state agencies which oversee offenders, and victims’ rights organizations. Members of the state council provide a network within the state to assist with the compact process, which oversees the transfer of offenders’ supervision across state lines.
