Henning - As part of its ongoing mission to operate safe and secure prisons, the Department of Correction has stopped an attempt to bring contraband inside the West Tennessee State Penitentiary.  Agents of the Department’s Office of Investigation and Compliance arrested Cpl. Lonnie Rogers for introduction of 40 cell phones and chargers, 22 ounces of marijuana and tobacco.

“Whether it is one cell phone or 40 and whether it is a visitor or an employee, our agency will not tolerate the introduction of contraband into our prisons,” Commissioner Derrick Schofield said.  “This case demonstrates our commitment to zero tolerance of illegal contraband that threatens the security of our prisons.”

Rogers was transported to the Lauderdale County Jail.  The case will be turned over to District Attorney Mike Dunavant for prosecution.
