Wednesday, July 31, 2013 | 11:49am

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Health Division of Laboratory Services, the Metro Nashville Fire Department and the Metro Nashville Emergency Communications Center will conduct brief, daily rescue exercises Aug. 6, 7 & 8 at the state lab facility on Hart Lane in Nashville.

Please inform your staff members who monitor scanners that communications for these exercises will involve realistic messages prefaced with, “This is a drill.”  There is not enough space in the exercise area within the building to accommodate media, but reporters are welcome to interview staff members outside the building at the conclusion of the daily exercises.

The drills will run from 9 until 11:30 a.m. each day and are necessary for the state lab to meet certification requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In each exercise, a small team of Fire Department personnel will perform a simulated rescue of one state employee from a laboratory setting.
