Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery Steering Committee to Discuss Ongoing Efforts
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder will address the Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery Steering Committee on Friday July 26 at 10:00 a.m. (CDT) at American Legion Post #137 in Jamestown as the committee members continue to review potential sites for the future cemetery, raise local awareness and local funding as well as donations for land acquisition.
Federal funding is used to design and construct state Veteran cemeteries, but only state and local funding can be used for land acquisition. The proposed Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery would serve Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Trousdale, Van Buren, Warren and White Counties.
