John Deere Power Products Receives Commissioner's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that John Deere Power Products located in Greeneville, Tennessee, was chosen to receive the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.

"John Deere Power Products has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Burns Phillips, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner, who presented the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence to the company at the closing session of the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress in Nashville. “The evaluation criteria for this award are not only challenging, but are also designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety.”

The Commissioner’s Award of Excellence honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

John Deere Power Products manufactures lawn tractor and garden equipment. The facility employs 581 people and has qualified for this award by having a lost-time record dating back to August of 2010.
