General Cable Receives Governor's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that General Cable in Jackson, Tennessee, was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.
“General Cable has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Burns Phillips, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner, who presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to the company at the closing session of the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress in Nashville. “The evaluation criteria for this award are not only challenging, but are also designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety.”
The Governor’s Award of Excellence honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
General Cable manufactures copper, aluminum, fiber optic wire, and cable products. The company employs 176 people and has qualified for the Governor’s Award by having an injury-free record dating back to May 2010.
