Denso Manufacturing Tennessee Inc. Receives Commissioner's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee Inc. located in Maryville, Tennessee, was chosen to receive the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health.

"DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee Inc. has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Burns Phillips, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner, who presented the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence to the company today at the closing session of the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress in Nashville. “The evaluation criteria for this award are not only challenging, but are also designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety.”

The Commissioner’s Award of Excellence honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee Inc. manufactures motor vehicle parts. The facilityoperated with an average of 3,003 employees during 2012 and is receiving this award for the fifth  consecutive year.
