TWRA Reports Eight BUI Arrests over Long July 4th Weekend

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported eight boating under the influence arrests over the long July 4th holiday weekend. Rain was a factor over much of the state during this year’s holiday period.

July 4 was on a Thursday this year and the holiday period ran for four days (July 4-7). TWRA boating officers were out in full force and checked 3,461 vessels. Along with the BUI arrests, three other arrests were made and 144 citations were issued.

Through the July 4th holiday weekend, there have been 14 boating related fatalities on the state’s waterways in 2013. There have been 87 total reportable accidents, 37 which have been injury accidents.
