Tennessee State Veterans Home Staff and Middle Tennessee State University to Offer Memorable Flight to Veteran Residents (RESCHEDULED)

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder will join three Tennessee State Veterans Home residents for a private flight to honor their military service and their love for flying.  Middle Tennessee State University Professor and pilot Terry Dorris will meet the residents at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport on Wednesday, March 27 at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) to take each of the Veterans on a brief flight.  Medical personnel will also accompany the residents on the flight.  

WHO:              Will Tuttle served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Paratroopers in the Korean and Vietnam War.  Tuttle also wrote the program for Combat Controller Training.

                        Leticia Fort served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Fort served with air emergency evacuation teams to provide medical care for troops wounded on the battlefield. 

                        Lynn Holliday served more than 20 years in the United States Navy in the legal administrative offices.  Holliday also served during the Vietnam War.  He studied to be a pilot but could not afford to get his license.  It has always been his dream to fly.

                        Pilot Terry Dorris will conduct the flights.  Dorris is also a Professor of Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University.

WHAT:           Flight for three Tennessee State Veterans Home residents in Murfreesboro who served during the Vietnam War.

WHEN:           Wednesday, March 27 at 9:30 a.m. (CDT)

WHERE:         Murfreesboro Municipal Airport

NOTE:            Residents will not be available for interviews.  However, Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Tennessee State Veterans Home-Murfreesboro Administrator Tyler Masden will be available for comment.
