I-40 East Reduced to One Lane in Cheatham County This Weekend
Beech Hill Road Bridge Repairs Begin Friday Night at 8 p.m.
NASHVILLE -- Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will reduce Interstate 40 East in Cheatham County to one lane this weekend in order to perform repairs to the Beech Hill Road Bridge that crosses over I-40. There will be one lane closed on I-40 eastbound between mile marker 185 and mile marker 186 from Friday, November 1st at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, November 4th at 6:00 a.m.
This weekend’s lane reduction is necessary to straighten the bridge beams that were damaged by an oversized vehicle. Crews will begin by closing the right lane on I-40 eastbound. When those repairs are finished, they will open the right lane and close the left lane on I-40 eastbound. One lane on I-40 eastbound will be open at all times. All lanes on Beech Hill Road will be open.
The work is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from occurring as scheduled, it will be rescheduled.
TDOT will use its overhead Dynamic Message Signs to alert motorists of the closure. Law enforcement officers will be on-site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
