2013 Cheatham WMA Youth Hunt Scheduled for Oct. 26

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host a Young Sportsman Deer Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area near Ashland City.

Youth ages 6-16 are eligible to participate. The Cheatham Wildlife Management Area is comprised of more than 20,000 acres of deer habitat.

Hunters participating who are age 10 or older must possess proof that they have successfully completed a hunter education course. All hunters must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult at least 21 who must remain in position to take immediate control of the hunting device. Participants must have the proper Tennessee hunting licenses.

In addition to the hunt, participants are allowed to take part in a Friday night cookout and campout (participants must provide their own camping gear). On Saturday, lunch will be provided and door prizes will be given away to the young sportsmen in attendance.

The TWRA is also looking for volunteers to assist as mentors. Volunteers must be 18 or 21 or older to serve as a mentor.
