Portion of Neyland Drive to Close Temporarily This Weekend

Portion of Neyland Drive to Close Temporarily Starting Friday, April 13
 
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – In order to complete the demolition of a pier of the Henley Bridge, Neyland Drive will be closed this coming weekend between Walnut Avenue and Lake Loudon Boulevard.
 
The closure will last from Friday, April 13 at 9:00 p.m. until Sunday, April 15 at 7:00 a.m.
 
Motorists traveling eastbound on Kingston Pike wishing to access Neyland Drive at Calhoun’s Restaurant and the waterfront will be detoured on Cumberland Avenue to East Neyland Drive. Motorists taking James White Parkway or Hall of Fame Drive wishing to access the Western portion of Neyland Drive should exit James White Parkway at the Downtown/ Cumberland Exit and follow the detour signs along Cumberland Avenue to Neyland Drive. 
 
The $24.6 million Henley Bridge Project began in January 2011, and will take 24 to 30 months to complete. The contract includes an incentive bonus for completion prior to June 30, 2013 with a maximum of $1 million for completion by December 31, 2012.
