Hunting Seasons Recommendations to Be Made at TWRC Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will present a preview for the 2012-13 hunting and trapping seasons among the agenda items at the April 12-13 meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission.
 
The TWRC, the governing body of the TWRA, will meet at the agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building in Nashville. The committee meetings begin at 1 p.m. on April 12 (Thursday) while the formal meeting is April 13 (Friday) at 9 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
 
The TWRA Wildlife and Forestry Division will provide the commission with its recommendations for the next season’s hunting regulations at its April meeting. The annual recommendations are made at this meeting.
 
The hunting seasons are set during the May meeting which is scheduled this spring for May 17-18 in Nashville.
 
In addition, TWRA Wildlife and Forestry Division Chief, Daryl Ratajczak, will present a summary of the first year of TWRA’s new wild hog program.
 
A review of the recently-held National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Tournament will be provided. The event drew a record number of participants in its sixth year.
 
The agency will honor the 2011 Boating Officer and the 2011 Part-Time Boating Officer of the Year during this month’s meeting. This will be the second year for the agency to honor a part-time boating officer.
