State Agencies Join Forces to Serve Veterans

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder announced today the Veterans Affairs Field Office in Dickson will relocate to the Tennessee Department of Labor Career Center in the same community. Doors will open at the Dickson Veterans Affairs Field Office on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. CDT.
Relocating the Veterans Affairs Field Office into the Tennessee Career Center will eliminate the need for our veterans to visit two facilities to access resources. This is the second Department of Veterans Affairs field office to merge with the Tennessee Career Centers. Commissioner Grinder would like to see the trend continue.
“One of Governor Haslam’s key goals is to provide high quality customer service with efficiency and effectiveness while saving taxpayer money,” Commissioner Grinder said. “I want to personally thank Commissioner Davis for her help in consolidating our Veterans Affairs field offices within the Career Centers.”
Veteran services available at the Dickson Career Center include assistance with employment, filing for service-connected or pension benefits, filing for home loan guarantees, education resources, and information on burial benefits.
“Our Career Centers were established more than 10 years ago as a one-stop delivery process to streamline services for Department of Labor customers,” said Commissioner Davis. “Expanding to include services provided by Veterans Affairs extends the single-point-of-delivery concept and is more convenient for veterans.”
Tom Meadows will be on site to help veterans file claims for available veterans’ benefits. His new phone number will be (615) 441-6224.
The Veterans Affairs Field Office was formerly located at 204 North Main St. in Dickson. The Tennessee Career Center address is 250 Beasley Drive Dickson, TN 37055.
