Department of Health Names New Assistant Commissioner for Administrative Services

NASHVILLE—Dean Daniel has been appointed the new assistant commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health’s Administrative Services Division.

“In nearly 30 years of service to state government in Tennessee including over 25 years of experience with the Tennessee Department of Health Dean has proven himself to be a leader,” said Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner MD, MPH. “I am delighted that Dean is taking on his new role and challenge with the Department of Health.”

As assistant commissioner, Dean will provide direction, coordination and review of administrative services by each of the six units of the Administrative Services Division. Those units are contract review, facilities management and capital projects, financial management, fiscal services, procurement and property and support services.

All positions within the Administrative Services Division are located in Nashville and interact daily with other staff of the Department of Health, as well as with other state, federal and local government offices and the general public.

“I am happy to be here and excited about this opportunity to join Dr. Dreyzehner’s team,” said Dean. “I look forward to working with the division in its provision of services to the Department of Health and the citizens of Tennessee.”

Dean has been the public health administrator for the Bureau of Health Services Administration for the department of health for the past six years. Dean received his Bachelor of Science in degree in accounting & Business Administration from Austin Peay State University in 1979.
