Armstrong World Industries to Add 95 Jobs in Jackson
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with representatives from Armstrong World Industries, Inc. today announced the company plans to add an additional 95 jobs to its Jackson, Tenn. facility with the addition of a third production shift targeted for completion by the end of May.
“We’re working to create the best environment for creating jobs, and our Jobs4TN strategy focuses on expanding existing businesses in Tennessee,” Haslam said. “Armstrong’s decision to expand in Jackson is great news for Jackson and West Tennessee, and I appreciate the company’s investment in our state.”
“Time and time again, we see that existing Tennessee businesses are the major job creators for our state,” Hagerty said. “My thanks to Armstrong for the additional jobs they will create in Tennessee.”
“Like other businesses, we adjusted our manufacturing footprint to coincide with the downturn in the economy and significant drop in demand over the last four years,” Brent Hayman, Armstrong Jackson plant manager, said. “Now we’re seeing some demand return, and as a result, we’re adding shifts in certain facilities like Jackson to fill our customer’s needs. We are excited about the additional jobs we can bring to Jackson, and we look forward to continued success and partnership with the community.”
“Armstrong’s expansion is affirmation that Jackson is a good place to do business,” Jimmy Harris, Madison County mayor, said. “We appreciate Armstrong for the strong commitment they have made to maintain a business climate that fosters growth.”
“Jackson continues to improve thanks in large part to our existing industries like Armstrong,” Jerry Gist, Jackson mayor, said. “We are pleased to be able to announce new jobs, and with Armstrong’s expansion, 95 jobs will be added to Jackson’s growing business community.”
