I-40 Reduced to One Lane in Wilson County This Weekend for Bridge Repair

Thursday, March 22, 2012 | 08:45am
NASHVILLE – – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 40 in Wilson County from East of SR 840 to East of US 70 this weekend to perform bridge repair work. I-40 from just west of mile marker 238 will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Friday, March 23, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. The lanes will reopen no later than Monday, March 26, 2012 at 6:00 a.m.

*In the event of inclement weather, the lane closures will be rescheduled.

During this weekend’s lane closures, workers will remove and replace deteriorated concrete on a bridge and on various parts of the road. Once the concrete is poured, it will have to harden for several hours. The bridge repairs are being completed as part of a $2.9 million interstate resurfacing project. The entire project is expected to be complete by May 2012.

TDOT will use portable message boards to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
