Henley Bridge Project Progresses

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Work continues to progress on the reconstruction of the Henley Bridge in Knoxville. Later this week, motorists should be aware of long term lane closures as contract crews work on the portion of the Henley Bridge directly above Neyland Drive.
Beginning Thursday, March 22 through Friday, August 17, Neyland Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction from east of Walnut Street to the Tennessee Boathouse.
During the closure of Neyland Drive, Locust Street will be converted to a two-way street to accommodate the public parking lot, before closing again at Front Street.
The $24.6 million Henley Bridge Project began in January 2011, and will take 24 to 30 months to complete. The contract includes an incentive bonus for completion prior to June 30, 2013 with a maximum of $1 million for completion by December 31, 2012.
