Department of Health Awards Abstinence Education Grants
NASHVILLE – Thirteen agencies across Tennessee have been awarded a total of $3,204,300 in funding to provide abstinence education programs. The funding provision is a continuance of Tennessee’s efforts to reduce adolescent and unplanned pregnancies.
"The State of Tennessee is committed to promoting positive youth development and preventing the negative physical, emotional and financial outcomes that may be associated with early initiation of sexual activity such as pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases,” Maternal and Child Health Director Michael D. Warren, MD, MPH, FAAP, said. “We support our community partners in this effort to protect the health of Tennesseans.”
