NASHVILLE - Commissioner Derrick Schofield and former Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte will lead the second annual "No More Victims" walk on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the historic Tennessee State Prison.

The TDOC has partnered with "You Have the Power" to host the walk which highlights the victim's rights and the impact of crime on their lives.  Each TDOC correctional facility will host fund raising events with proceeds to be donated to victims' rights organizations.

Participants will walk three miles from the old state prison to the Charles Bass Correctional Complex - Annex.  They will be joined by inmates who will walk inside the facility fence.  It's an opportunity for inmates to play an active role in supporting victim's rights and to demonstrate accountability for their actions.

"You Have the Power" is a nonprofit organization founded by former Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte to advocate for the rights of victims and to educate the community to prevent violent crime.  The organization presents hundreds of community workshops each year on child sexual abuse, domestic violence, Internet dangers and elder abuse.  They also conduct Victim Impact classes in area prisons.

Registration for the walk will begin Saturday at 7 a.m.  The fee is $25.  The walk begins at 8:00 a.m. Visit www.yhtp.org or call (615) 292-7027.
