Bridge Repairs Require Lane Closures on I-40 in Shelby County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Bridge repair project will require lane closures on Interstate 40 in Shelby County this weekend. The closure is as follows:

 

I-40 West (MM 14.1)- Friday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. Monday, April 11 – I-40 West will have two lanes closed over US64/Summer Avenue for repairs on the bridge ramp. One lane will remain open.  Summer Avenue will remain open. 

 

Previous closures for these projects have resulted in lengthy back-ups on Interstate 40. All work is weather dependent.

 

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zones to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.

Motorists are reminded to use all motorist information tools responsibly. Drivers should refrain from texting, tweeting or using a mobile phone while operating a vehicle. TDOT advises drivers to “Know before you go!” by checking traffic conditions before leaving for their destination.
