Tree Planting Event Rescheduled

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 | 05:31am
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Due to inclement weather, the tree planting event scheduled for tomorrow at Austin Peay Elementary in Tipton County has been rescheduled. The event will now be held on Thursday May 5, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.

The tree planting was organized after 2nd grader Hannah Grace Henderson wrote TDOT, expressing concern about the trees that had been cleared as part of a construction project on State Route 14 near her school. (See attached letter.) Since then, TDOT has worked with Hannah and Austin Peay Elementary on a plan to replace several of the trees.

Next week’s tree planting event will take place in front of the elementary school and will last approximately one hour.
