Letter from 2nd Grader Prompts TDOT to Replace Trees

Friday, April 22, 2011 | 05:32am
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Transportation will join Hannah Grace Henderson and her 2nd Grade class at Austin Peay Elementary School in Tipton County to plant trees in celebration of Earth and Arbor Days.

Hannah Grace wrote a letter to TDOT last fall, expressing concern about the trees that had been cleared as part of a construction project on State Route 14 near her school. (See attached letter.) Since then, TDOT has worked with Hannah and Austin Peay Elementary on a plan to replace several of the trees.

The event will take place in front of the elementary school and will last approximately one hour.
