Interstate Construction Report for April 21-27, 2011

 Due to the Easter Holiday, there will be no lane closures scheduled between 6:00 p.m., Thursday April 21st through 6:00 a.m., Monday April 25th.

 

I-24

 

REGION 3, On-Call Cable Barrier Repair: Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-6AM, There will be one lane closures at various locations on interstate and state routes in order to repair cable barrier rail.

 

REGION 3 On-Call Guardrail: Thursday April 21 through Tuesday April 26, 8PM-6AM, (each night), (excluding holiday weekend), There will be one lane closures at various locations on interstates and state routes in Davidson, Smith, Robertson, Cheatham,  Sumner, Maury, Giles, Montgomery, and Rutherford Counties for guardrail and attenuator repair.

 

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance: Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, (excluding weekends), 9AM-4PM, There will be one lane closed periodically on I-24 westbound in Montgomery County between mile marker 8 and mile marker 11 in order to trim vegetation overhanging the roadway.  One lane will remain open. Exit 11 is S.R. 76 Adams and Clarksville Exit, and Exit 8 is S.R. 237 Rossview Road Exit.

 

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance: Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, (excluding weekends), 9AM-4PM, There will be one lane closed periodically on I-24 in both directions in Robertson County between mile marker 25 and mile marker 18 in order to trim vegetation overhanging the roadway.  One lane will remain open. This is between exit 24 (Springfield and Ashland City) and Exit 19 (Adams).

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance:

  • Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, There will be possible lane closures at various locations on State Routes and Interstates in Middle Tennessee to patch potholes and for ditch cleaning.
  • Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, and 7PM-1AM, There will be mobile operations in various locations in Davidson County for vegetation control and shoulder work.  This will affect the shoulders or inside and outside lanes. 

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Maintenance of the ITS System:

  • Tuesday April 26, 12:15AM-12:45AM, Close the right lane of I-24EB at the Briley Parkway EB ramp at MM 43.5 for the purpose of ITS System Maintenance.  One of two lanes will remain open. 
  • Monday April 25, 11:30PM-12AM, Close the right lane of I-24WB at MM 49.4 for the purpose of ITS System Maintenance.  Three lanes of four lanes will remain open. 
  • Monday April 25, 9PM-9:30PM, Close the right lane of I-24WB at MM 58.6 for the purpose of ITS System Maintenance.  Three lanes of four lanes will remain open. 

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Repair of the I-24 (Silliman Evans) Bridge over Nashville & Eastern Railroad: Monday April 25 and Tuesday April 26, 8PM-12AM, There will be one lane and a shoulder closed on I-24 eastbound in order to install the containment system used in sandblast and paint operations. 

 

DAVIDSON and RUTHERFORD COUNTIES, ITS Phase III:

  • Thursday April 21 and Thursday April 21 (until 3pm) and Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM and 7PM-6AM, There will be periodic day and night time shoulder closures at various locations within the areas listed below in order to install fiber, cleanup, and install conduit.
    • I-24, both directions, between Briley Pkwy and one mile north of Old Hickory Blvd (MM 43 to MM 39)
    • I-24, both directions, between Old Hickory Blvd and Waldron Rd (MM 62 to MM 64)
  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-5AM, I-24 Eastbound at (MM 39.6) north of Old Hickory Blvd, one right lane closed for foundation installation, one lane to remain open.

 

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, I-24 Joint Stabilization: Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27: No closures scheduled.

 

REGION 3, On-Call Striping: Wednesday April 27, 9AM-11AM, There will be rolling roadblocks on I-24 from MM 70.5-MM 97.0 in Rutherford County in order to test striping.

 

MARION COUNTY, I-24 at Exit 152 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge on U.S. 72 (SR-27) including grading, drainage, and paving:  The contractor continues work on the bridge.  Any interstate lane closures on I-24 will be at nighttime between 6PM-6AM.  Flaggers and THP will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is September 2012. 

 

HAMILTON COUNTY, I-24 resurfacing beginning west of Chattanooga Creek (LM 6.18 / MM 177) to near Crest Rd. (LM 11.35 / MM 183), including bridge deck repair:  The contractor has begun a resurfacing project on I-24 between mile markers 177 - 183 in and around downtown Chattanooga.  The project includes partial and full depth concrete repairs to the roadway, as well as bridge deck repairs.  Most of the work is scheduled to take place at night between the hours of 7PM-6AM Sundays through Thursdays.  However, there are at least 8 weekends where the contractor will be allowed to have lane closures beginning at 7PM Friday night to 6AM Monday morning.  It is planned that 2 lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction except between the hours of 10PM-5AM when traffic could be restricted to a single lane.

  • CURRENT ACTIVITIES: Monday, April 25 through Wednesday, April 27 eastbound and westbound from 7PM-6AM.  The contractor will have either one lane or two lanes closed (only 10PM-5AM) for bridge deck repairs. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.

I-26

 

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-26 Westbound Exit Ramp over Boones Creek (Exit 19): Motorists should be alert for a closed shoulder, workers and equipment present and use extreme caution in this area.  Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 through 6 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, the westbound exit ramp will close as crews perform roadway structure repairs.  During this time, motorists on I-26 West wishing to access Boones Creek Road (Exit 19) should use State of Franklin Road (Exit 17) to SR 36 back to Boones Creek Road.

 

UNICOI COUNTY, I-26 between Mile Markers 36 and 40: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures during daylight hours and use caution through this resurfacing project. 

 

 

I-40

 

REGION 4, TDOT Maintenance:

  • Wednesday April 20 & Thursday April 21, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: There will be temporary lane closures at various locations in Region 4 in order to patch potholes on an as needed basis.
  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: There will be temporary lane closures at various locations in Region 4 in order to patch potholes on an as needed basis.

DICKSON COUNTY, Resurfacing on I-40 in Dickson, Hickman, & Humphreys Counties (MM 148 – MM 182)

  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 7AM-6PM, There will be shoulder closures on I-40 westbound from MM 163-182 in order to perform guardrail work.
  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-6AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-40 eastbound and westbound from MM 163-182 in order to mill and pave.

 

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance: Thursday April 21 and Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, and 7PM-1AM, There will be mobile operations in various locations in Williamson County for vegetation control.  This will affect the shoulders or inside and outside lanes.

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance:

  • Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, There will be possible lane closures at various locations on State Routes and Interstates in Middle Tennessee to patch potholes and for ditch cleaning.
  • Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, and 7PM-1AM, There will be mobile operations in various locations in Davidson County for vegetation control and shoulder work.  This will affect the shoulders or inside and outside lanes. 

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, I-40 and Robertson Road Interchange: (Recovery Act Project) Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-5AM, There will be two lanes of I-40 eastbound and westbound closed at White Bridge Road for demolition of the old bridge.

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Maintenance of the ITS System: Monday April 25, 10PM-11PM, Close the right lane of I-40WB at MM 211.8 for the purpose of ITS System Maintenance.  Three lanes of four lanes will remain open. 

 

REGION 3, On-Call Striping: Monday April 25, 9AM-11AM, There will be rolling roadblocks on I-40 from MM 250-MM 259 in Smith County in order to test striping.

SHELBY COUNTY, On-Call Guardrail: Wednesday April 20 & Thursday April 21 & Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.:  There will be night time lane closures at the following locations to repair damaged guard rail:

·         I-240, Shelby County northbound & southbound (MM 24.5 to MM 26.5), two lanes to remain open.

 

SHELBY COUNTY, I-240 beginning SR385 to north of Walnut Grove Road: Monday, April 25 through Thursday, April 28, 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.: Each night there will be lane closures on I-240 eastbound from mile marker 16.0 to mile marker 13.0 to begin milling.  Two eastbound lanes will remain open.

SHELBY COUNTY, On-Call Guardrail: Wednesday April 20 & Thursday April 21 & Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.:  There will be night time lane closures at the following locations to repair damaged guard rail:

·         I-55, Shelby County southbound (MM 6.5 to MM 4.5), two lanes to remain open.

·         I-55, Shelby County southbound ramp from I-55 SB to I-40 NB (Exit 6B), CLOSED.

 

SHELBY COUNTY, I-55 at Mallory Avenue:  I-55 is reduced to two lanes in each direction.  Currently there is access to Mallory Avenue (Exit 9) from Northbound I-55. The NEW northbound lanes at I-55 are open to traffic.

  • Wednesday April 20 through Wednesday April 21, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.:  there will be intermittent lane closures southbound at mile marker 8 to mile marker 9 in order to perform work on Interstate between bridge 1 and 2.  One southbound lane will remain open.
  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.:  there will be intermittent lane closures southbound at mile marker 8 to mile marker 9 in order to perform work on Interstate between bridge 1 and 2.  One southbound lane will remain open.

 

SHELBY COUNTY, Safety Improvement on I-55 with Crump Boulevard Ramps:

  • Wednesday, April 20 through Thursday, April 21: There will be lanes closures westbound Crump Boulevard and Riverside Drive to install barrier rail.  One lane will remain open.
  • Monday, April 25 through Wednesday April 28: There will be lanes closures westbound Crump Boulevard and Riverside Drive to install barrier rail.  One lane will remain open.

REGION 4, TDOT Maintenance:

GILES COUNTY, Resurfacing on I-65 from US 64 to the Marshall County line Including Bridge Repair: Tuesday April 26 through Wednesday May 4, 8PM- 6AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound in Giles County between mile marker 14.0 and mile marker 22.0 in order to mill, pave, and install guardrail.  One lane will remain open.

 

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance:

  • Thursday April 21 and Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, and 7PM-1AM, There will be mobile operations in various locations in Williamson County for vegetation control.  This will affect the shoulders or inside and outside lanes.
  • Tuesday April 26 and Wednesday April 27, 8PM-3AM, The two left lanes will be closed on I-65 southbound between mile marker 60 and mile marker 58 for milling and paving.  One lane will remain open.   

 

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Widening of I-65 from SR 248 (Goose Creek) to SR 96: Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-5AM, There will be alternating one lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound between SR 96 and MM 62.5 in order to perform some maintenance work and install barrier rail.  One lane will remain open.

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance:

  • Thursday April 21 through Wednesday April 27, 9AM-3PM, There will be possible lane closures at various locations on State Routes and Interstates in Middle Tennessee to patch potholes and for ditch cleaning.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, I-65 at the junction with SR 12 (Rosa Parks Blvd.):

  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9PM-5AM, There will be alternating lane closures on Rosa Parks Blvd. in order to perform signal work at Dominican.
  • Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 9PM-5AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound in order to perform bridge work.

 

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Maintenance of the ITS System: Tuesday April 26, 10:00AM-2:00PM, Close the right lane of I-65 southbound at I-24 eastbound junction at MM 86.4 for the replacement of a camera and lowering device of ITS system. One of two lanes will remain open.

 

ROBERTSON/SUMNER COUNTIES, I-65 Joint Stabilization: Monday April 25 through Wednesday April 27, 8PM-6AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-65 northbound and southbound from MM 98.0 to MM 111.0 for joint stabilization work.

 

 

FUTURE I-69

 

OBION COUNTY-Future I-69 beginning 0.31 mile south of SR-5/SR-22 to 0.78 mile west of SR-21

·         NOW through Thursday November 3, 2011, Brevard Road near Goodyear in Union City will be CLOSED for the construction of an interchange at this location so that Brevard Road will cross over I-69.  A detour route is posted.

·         NOW through Saturday September 15, 2012, Perry Browder Road between George Moss Road and Mt. Zion Road will be CLOSED for the construction of an interchange at this location.  A detour route is posted.  There is only one house on this section of Perry Browder Road and they will provide egress and ingress daily as the project is constructed.

 

 

I-75

 

KNOX COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 112.5 and 117.5: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures through this resurfacing project on Sunday nights through Thursday nights between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.  Motorists should be alert for equipment and workers present, expect potential delays and use caution in this area.

 

 

I-275

 

No construction activity to report at this time.

 

 

I-81

 

GREENE COUNTY, I-81 North and South between Mile Markers 36 and 44: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures through this resurfacing project on Sunday nights through Thursday nights between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.  Motorists should be alert for equipment and workers present, expect potential delays and use caution in this area.

 

WASHINGTON COUNTY, I-81 North and South between Mile Markers 50 and 54: Motorists should be alert for possible lane closures through this resurfacing project on Sunday nights through Thursday nights between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.  Motorists should be alert for equipment and workers present, expect potential delays and use caution in this area.

 

 

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and obey reduced speed limits in all TDOT work zones, regardless of lane closure activity.

 

Most work is weather dependent and subject to change due to inclement weather.
