TWRA to Meet March 23-24 in Nashville

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission will meet March 23-24 at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Region II Ray Bell Building in Nashville. Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23. The formal meeting will start at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 24.
 
Among the agenda items at this month’s meeting includes an update on the Clean Vessel Act (CVA) program. Ed Poolos, Coordinator CVA-Boating Infrastructure of the Boating Division, will make the presentation. As part of its commitment to provide safe, clean, and enjoyable recreational boating in Tennessee, the TWRA administers this grant program.
 
Tony Campbell, of the National Ecological Foundation, will present an overview on wetland mitigation. In addition, he will describe the foundation and specifically in regard to Bark Camp Barrens Wildlife Management Area in Coffee County.
 
The commission will hear an update from Fisheries Division Chief Bobby Wilson on the smallmouth bass regulations specific to Norris Lake. Information and Education Division Chief Don King will make a presentation on the agency’s planned spring fishing promotion.
 
TWRA Engineering Division Chief Dwight Hensley will provide an update on the agency’s continued progress on repairs to damages caused by last year’s May flood.
 
The public is invited to attend both the committee meetings and the formal meeting.
