NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Department of Education welcomes the 2011 Tennessee Counselor and Administrator Leadership Institute on February 6-8, 2011. The sixth annual conference is themed “Transform Tennessee” with a focus on encouraging counselor and administrator collaboration to motivate the psychosocial, emotional, and physical development of children and youth across the state.

“At the heart of supporting our students, are the dedicated counselors and administrators that tend to the comprehensive needs of students every day,” said Acting Commissioner Patrick Smith. “The educational resources and training offered through this professional development opportunity will ultimately have the greatest impact on the academic achievements and well-being of Tennessee students.”

Opportunities for growth and development will be delivered through training sessions, workshops, keynote speaker sessions and peer networking to cover a wide range of topics from crisis response programming to college-and career-ready guidance. More than 900 participants from across Tennessee will come together to gain a better understanding of the reforms taking place in Pre-K-12 education and how to put them into practice.
