From TEMA's Week-Long Series on Earthquake Safety

TRANSCRIPT:  I'm Mac Purdy with Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.

We're all too familiar with floods and tornados in Tennessee, but it's also likely our state will experience a major earthquake within our lifetime.

If an earthquake occurs, you may need to evacuate. Take a few minutes with your family to discuss a home evacuation plan. Sketch a floor plan of your home; walk through each room and discuss evacuation details, and plan a second way to exit from each room or area, if possible.

Preparedness is an individual responsibility.

I'm an emergency manager and I'm asking you to plan and practice what to do if an earthquake strikes.
