Southeastern Inmate Escape

PIKEVILLE - Agents with the Department of Correction Internal Affairs Division are searching for a minimum-custody inmate who escaped from the Southeastern Tennessee State Regional Correctional Facility in Bledsoe County Sunday afternoon.

Inmate Garland Godsey, 44, had been working as a trusty on state property surrounding the prison when he escaped late in the afternoon.  Godsey was serving a 25-year sentence for a second-degree murder conviction out of Cumberland County.  His sentence would have expired in 2018.
