$6.3 Million Expansion Investment to Create 35 Jobs, Retain 60

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty today joined with company officials from Nakatetsu Machining Technologies to announce the company’s decision to expand its Telford facility. The $6.3 million investment will create 35 new manufacturing jobs and retain 60 at the plant.

“I’m pleased to announce that Nakatetsu will expand its Telford facility, creating new manufacturing jobs for Tennesseans,” Haslam said. “Expansion of existing Tennessee businesses has been a cornerstone of our economic development strategy and will help us achieve our goal of becoming the No.1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

“Gov. Haslam’s Jobs4TN plan recognizes that the vast majority of new jobs created in the state come from expansions of existing Tennessee businesses, and that is where we’ve focused much of our economic development efforts and resources,” Hagerty said. “I thank Nakatetsu for their continued investment and presence in Tennessee and the confidence the company has shown in our state and its citizens.”

Nakatetsu Machining Technologies is a manufacturer of tapered roller bearings for the
automotive industry. This latest expansion will allow the company to operate two additional production lines, which are expected to be installed in January 2012. The manufacturing facility is located at 234 Precision Blvd. and has been located in Telford since 2007. Since that time, the company has undergone two expansions, resulting in a 100,000 square foot facility that currently employs 60.

“Since locating our facility in Washington County, Nakatetsu has enjoyed great success,” Katsumi Okita, president, Nakatetsu Machining Technologies, said. “This success has allowed us to continue to grow and expand our production lines. We look forward to continued growth and appreciate the support of the community and the state in our endeavors.”

“We are delighted that Nakatetsu is continuing to grow in Washington County,” Robert Reynolds, CEO, Washington County Economic Development Council, said. “Nakatetsu is one of our most important corporate citizens, and our relationship with them since they originally located here has been outstanding. We congratulate them on their success and thank them for their ongoing investment and confidence in the business environment and workforce of Washington County.”

Hiring for the new manufacturing positions is underway. Interested parties can apply directly at the Nakatetsu location, 234 Precision Blvd, Telford, Tenn., or through the Northeast Tennessee Career Center, 2515 Wesley Street, Johnson City, Tenn.
