Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners Suspends License Of Jackson Physician

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners has suspended the license of Tony N. Phillips, MD, of Jackson, Tenn. The suspension of the doctor’s license was effective Spetember 7, 2010. As a result of the summary suspension, Phillips was immediately prohibited from practicing medicine in the state.

Phillips’s license was suspended for the following:

  • Engaging in the practice of medicine when mentally or physically unable to do so.

Phillips has the opportunity to appear at informal hearing before the Board of Medical Examiners on September 14, 2010, at 5 p.m. CT, in the Iris Room at 227 French Landing Drive, Nashville, Tenn. At the hearing, the board will determine whether the public health, safety or welfare imperatively required emergency action and whether the physician’s license should remain suspended pending the outcome of a contested case proceeding in the matter. The hearing will be canceled if Phillips declines participation.

Phillips was originally licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee in 1983.
