First Lady Series Explores Changing Role of Women in the Media
Event Features CNN Headline News Anchor Christi Paul
NASHVILLE – Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte today hosted the September First Lady Series at Conservation Hall at the Tennessee Residence. The event featured CNN Headline News Anchor Christi Paul, who spoke on the topic, “The Changing Role of Women in the Media.”
"I truly believe 24-hour news cycles, social media and blogs have made it a challenging time to work in the media," said Conte. "For women in the industry, raising families and managing the home front offers another layer of responsibility. I think we all benefitted from hearing Christi Paul's insights about her experience from working on the front line."
Based in CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta, Paul joined the network in April 2003 as a weekend anchor. Previously, she worked for CNN affiliate KTVK in Phoenix, where she was an anchor and a consumer reporter for the network. She has also been a news anchor, reporter and producer for ABC affiliate KNXV in Phoenix and NBC affiliate KTVB in Boise, Idaho. Paul began her broadcast journalism career in Clarksburg, W. Va., as a news anchor, reporter, photographer and editor.
The First Lady Series is a monthly event hosted by Conte in Conservation Hall. Previous First Lady Series topics have included a student town hall with gubernatorial candidates, a discussion on the civil rights movement in Tennessee, a lecture on the role women played during the Civil War, a panel discussion on the rise of partisan politics and the impact of war on families.
