NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close State Route 436 in Carroll County to through traffic beginning February 2, 2010 as work to replace seven bridges begins along the 9.8 mile section of roadway.

Detours have been clearly marked for motorists who use SR-436. Motorists should take SR-77 to SR-105 to SR-76 where they can return to SR-436.

“We understand the inconvenience this will place on motorists who use this section of SR436, however by closing SR436 crews will be able to work faster and in a safer environment,” said TDOT Region 4 Director Chuck Rychen. “This will allow us to re-open the route as quickly as possible.”

Dement Construction is the prime contractor on the $6,679,960 project, which is schedule to be completed by June 2012. Local residents along SR-436 will be able to access their properties throughout the duration of the project.
