Project to Repair Five Bridges Will Require Several Weekend Closures

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will reduce Interstate 40 westbound in Fayette County to one lane this weekend as work to repair five bridges gets underway.  I-40 westbound between mile marker 29.5 and 33.5 will be reduced to one lane from Friday, September 11, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, September 14 at 6:00 a.m.

This weekend’s lane reduction is the first of eight weekend lane closures planned on I-40 between mile marker 29.5 and 33.5 as crews work to repair the bridge deck surfaces on five interstate bridges. All work is dependent on favorable weather conditions.

Troopers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed.

Those who must travel in this area are advised to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions.
